Call for Tutorials

ICTIR 2016 Tutorials Program

ICTIR is an international forum for the presentation of research related to the foundational aspects of Information Retrieval (IR), including, for example, new or improved models of relevance, ranking, representation, information needs, and evaluation. It is a conference that appreciates theory and new paradigms. ICTIR 2016 will include a full day of tutorials on Monday 12th September 2016.

ICTIR 2016 (http://ictir2016.org) solicits proposals for tutorials of either half-day (3 hours plus breaks) or full day (6 hours plus breaks) duration. Proposals are welcomed on all topics related to the foundational aspects of information retrieval. Each tutorial should cover a single topic in detail. For example, tutorials may cover an established foundational topic in depth (e.g., formal models), or update the ICTIR community on recent advances in related fields (e.g., a new theoretical framework relevant to IR).

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should include a cover sheet and an extended abstract. The cover sheet should specify:

  • the title and length of the tutorial
  • the intended audience (introductory, intermediate, advanced) and prerequisite knowledge or skills required, if any
  • complete contact information for the contact person and other presenters
  • a brief biography (max. 2 paragraphs) for each presenter

The extended abstract should be no longer than 4 pages, and should include motivation, objectives, the format and the detailed schedule of the tutorial, its relevance to the ICTIR community, and details of materials to be supplied to attendees.

Tutorial proposals should be prepared in standard SIGIR format available from the ACM Conference style (for LaTeX, use the Option 2 style). Proposals should be submitted via EasyChair:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ictir2016tutorial

The submissions will be reviewed by members of the ICTIR research community and tutorials to be presented at ICTIR 2016 will be selected by the ICTIR 2016 Program Committee

  • Proposals due: April 29, 2016
  • Accept/reject notifications: June 30, 2016
